Event Description

Bootstrap Algebra teaches students to program their own video games in an algebraic programming language, exposing them to key math concepts. Middle and high school teachers around the country have implemented the curriculum as a one-month module, a weekly activity or an after school program. Bootstrap Algebra would also be perfect as an engaging summer learning experience to address learning loss due to COVID in a creative way.

In Bootstrap, your students will practice and apply:

  • Solving word problems
  • Coordinate planes and Graphing
  • Functions and Variables
  • Function Composition
  • Inequalities in the Plane
  • The Pythagorean Theorem

"One of my favorite strategies used during the training is the circle of evaluation where students show the structure that’s going on inside a mathematical expression.  This is a powerful way for students to gain a deep foundation in the mathematics that goes on in the development of an understanding of functions.  It is an awesome way for students to use Algebra in a fun and engaging way that includes creative expression." Sheryl R., May 2019
