Event Description

This highly interactive workshop is designed for K-5 teachers and:

• aligns to the new Tech Apps TEKS required to be implemented by the 24-25 school year
• integrates computational thinking, computer science, and cybersecurity into core curricula
• provides K-5 lessons (unplugged and plugged) for teachers to take back to their classrooms
• introduces block-based coding and physical computing to scaffold learning with students

The K-5 PD Extravaganza offers a unique opportunity for you to connect with fellow educators, learn new teaching strategies and techniques, and deepen your knowledge of computer science in the K-5 classroom. To benefit society as a whole, our goal is to build a strong and inclusive computer science pipeline by reaching gender parity, serving students from historically underrepresented groups, the economically disadvantaged, and rural communities from kindergarten to high school.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY - WeTeach_CS is excited to offer scholarships for K-5 educators to attend our PD Extravaganza! Space is limited, so make sure to apply as soon as possible!

Certificates of Participation - Certificates stating 21 hours of Continuing Professional Education hours (CPE credits) earned will be sent electronically after the participant has completed the online course evaluation. Any questions about certificates should be directed toward the contact person listed on this page.

Registration Notes -

• Registration fee includes training materials and lunch
• Refunds will not be issued for cancellations or those not in attendance. 
• Event limited to 50 participants.

If a minimum of 12 participants are not registered two weeks prior to the event, this workshop may be canceled.
