Event Description

These sessions are provided to educators enrolled in the WeTeach_CS Foundations of CS for Teachers: CEDI21 course.
 
Course instructors will address several competencies in depth and link attendees to additional resources that will help to prepare them to challenge the TExES CS 8-12 (241) certification test.

Day 1 (July 31)

  • Software Design and Development & Object Oriented Programming
  • Domain 1 Topics & Programming Languages
  • Data Types, Operators, Variables & Number Bases
  • Robotics/Digital Forensics & Discrete Math/ Game Design

Day 2 (August 21)

  • Conditionals - Pseudocode Section 4 & Loops - Pseudocode Section 5
  • Methods - Pseudocode Section 6 & Parameters, Pseudocode Section 8
  • Arrays, 1D and 2D, Pseudocode Section 7 & Linked Lists, Stacks, Queues, Pseudocode Section 10
  • Big O, Searches, Sorts, Pseudocode Section 9 & Searches and Sorts - Theory

Day 3 (September 11)

  • Recursion
  • Tree Data Structures,Traversals & Pseudocode Practice Problems
  • Test Questions

Schedule

8:30am: Zoom open to participants to log-in, walk through logistics of the platform, ask questions, etc

9:00-11:30am: Content delivery and activities with a 10 minute break in the middle

11:30-12:10am: Lunch break (40 minutes)

12:10-2:30pm: Content delivery and activities with a 10 minute break in the middle

2:30-3:00pm: (OPTIONAL) Open question period
