WTCS Certification Prep Program Package

This program is geared toward regional and district administrators interested in a structured and engaging cohort to help teachers prepare to challenge the TExES CS 241 or Praxis exam.

Welcome! Are you a CTE director or administrator looking for a comprehensive program to increase your teacher capacity for Computer Science courses? This collaborative model will help currently certified Texas teachers prepare for the TExES CS 241 or Praxis exam.

PROGRAM PACKAGE

Total Program Cost per teacher: $2,100

It includes:

Foundations of CS for Teachers (Online)

CS Weeklong Institute  (Virtual/In-Person combo)

  1. CS Jumpstart 
  2. WTCS Certification Prep 

Materials included:

  • Canvas course for Foundation of CS
  • Canvas course for Intro to Programing / CS Jumpstart
  • Trinket.io account
  • E-Book of Python Crash Course, 2nd Edition
  • 1 TI Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator
  • 2 TI–Innovator™ Hubs 
  • 1 TI–Innovator™ Rover 
  • 1 license of TI Nspire™ CX Premium Teacher Software

Teachers who complete this sequence of professional development will also receive 94 CPE hours.

SETTING UP A PROGRAM FOR YOUR INSTITITION

  1. Contact Amy Carrell at acarrell@tacc.utexas.edu to determine event/course dates for each component.
  2. A flyer listing all of the components/dates of the program will be created for you to send out to teachers whom you wish to invite to participate.
  3. A registration page (tied to the first component of the program: Foundation of CS online course) will be set up for you to purchase licenses for the number of teachers who are ready to commit to the full program.
  4. Upon completing the licenses purchase, you will receive a code that will be redeemed by each teacher in order to register themselves and get started with the Foundations course.

Purchased licenses are not transferable.
